Lenape & Dutch · event 3 of 13

11 September 1609

Henry Hudson reaches the harbour. Henry Hudson, an Englishman sailing the Halve Maen for the Dutch East India Company in search of a passage to Asia, enters the harbour and sails 150 miles up the river that will take his name. He finds no passage. What he reports instead is the quality of the fur, which is enough to bring the Dutch back.
